Summary:
Under the direction supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Services (DOS) in conjunction with the unit supervisors, will be responsible for managing all programs in the area of services to children and families for the Agency. The DOS will ensure effective functioning and planning of all programs at both offices. This position is responsible for supervising all CFS Unit Supervisors within the agency and ensuring each unit is providing services to children and families in accordance to provincial legislations & standards. In addition ensures that all programs and services reflect the traditions, values, customs, and standards of Sagkeeng First Nation.
Requirements:
- Completed Bachelor of Social Work Degree preferred with 5 years direct CFS experience; any post secondary degree in the Social Services with 5yrs direct CFS experience; Combination of education and experience may be considered
- 2 years demonstrated Supervisory experience.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and fully insured vehicle with $2,000,000.00 liability insurance
Management Supervision:
- Provide guidance and direction on all cases as requested by supervisors and/or case worker.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to Supervisors as required
- Issue any discipline to any staff as required; dependent of issue(s) of concern
- Meet with supervisors on a regular basis to ensure managing of staff and case load are in conjunction and compliance with agency policies and procedures as well as Provincial legislation and standards.
- Ensure Special Needs assessments and requests are completed appropriately and submitted on a timely basis to the Special Needs Committee.
- Assist Supervisors with resolving program and/or staff conflicts/issues. Ensures the supervisor has developed a suitable plan with the staff that has addressed the conflicts/issues.
- Where transfer of a case to another agency is appropriate, ensure case transfer protocol and that transfer summaries are completed with all appropriate signatures.
- Review Case Management binder monthly to ensure that actions, plans, visits and file recordings are completed.
Administration:
- Oversees the day to day operation of the units including the supervision and discipline of all workers that may be assigned within the team.
- Responds to all inter-agency/intra-agency correspondence regarding services in the community by letter, telephone call and email or assigning to appropriate supervisor/worker.
- Ensures the maintenance of all files with all updated correspondence/reports/notes/required forms etc., in compliance with Provincial standards and regulations by conducting regular random file audits within both offices.
- Maintains quarterly case lists ensuring accuracy by comparing to CFSIS, previous case lists and master list.
- Maintains monthly statistical records as required and requested, (i.e.: Intake, Abuse, etc.).
- Reviews, approves and/or denies flex time, travel claims and out of community approval forms for staff.
- Develops and maintains staff management records that include up to date case lists, follow-up review dates, training requests, time off, holidays, overtime, copy of staff evaluation/performance records/complaints/disciplinary action.
- Ensures appropriate time management and case management by maintaining a planning calendar and case recording system.
- Acts as Chairperson for all agency Special Rate Committee meetings.
- Attends and participate in all SCFS Management team meetings.
