DUTIES Reporting to the Associate Dean, UCN is seeking individuals for term positions as Community Early Childhood Education (ECE) Instructors. The incumbent will work with the ECE Program Coordinator and other ECE instructors to deliver courses in the ECE program in a community-based setting. In addition to teaching duties, the instructor will be responsible for classroom management, student advising, maintenance of student records and grades, curriculum review/development, liaison with child care mentors and directors, and other administrative tasks. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fully participating in all program functions and will be required to teach a 40-hour distance evening course to the public during their term.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 ·          Manitoba Early Childhood Education level III designation by Province of Manitoba’s Early Learning and Child Care Qualifications Branch
 ·          Three years’ experience working in a child care facility (licensed, unlicensed, Head Start, etc.)
 ·          Two years’ experience as a supervisor or director in a child care facility
 ·          Effective communication and interpersonal skills
·          Strong organizational skills
 ·          Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
 ·          Proficiency with relevant educational and MS Office technology/software
 ·          Ability to work independently and in a team-teaching situation
 ·          Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
 ·          Commitment to life-long learning

  ASSETS
 ·          Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Early Childhood, Arts, Education, Social Work or Recreation).
  ·          Certification in Adult Education
 ·          Experience teaching in an ECE college program
 ·          Experience supervising or managing a child care center and staff
 ·          Experience working in northern and/or Indigenous Manitoba communities
 ·          Experience in post-secondary or adult education (teaching, mentoring, or supervising student placements)
 ·          The ability to speak an Indigenous language and conduct cultural ceremonies or teachings
 ·          Understanding of land or place-based learning objectives

  CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 ·          Must be able to work evenings
 ·          Valid Class 5 driver’s license; as travel is required
 ·          Completion of Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) certification within 3 years of employment
 ·          Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check
·          Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
