Jordan’s Principle Child Development Worker 

TERM:                  Full-time permanent 
POST:                   Dakota Tipi First Nation 
SALARY:               Salary & hours to be determined based on experience and availability 
 
Job Description: The Child Development Worker provides one-on-one and group program supports to promote child/youth development.  The Child Development Worker reports directly to the Jordan’s Principle Team Lead. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure the well-being of clients into the program and promotes child/youth development
  • Provide holistic care with compassion within the community
  • Promote client independence and decision making
  • Assist in their physical, social, emotional, and daily life skills development based on the seven domains of development
  • Provide support to families with children with complex needs, services include respite care, crisis intervention, behaviour management, and life skills training
  • Report activities and findings in regards to clients
  • Collaborate with outside programs and services to ensure clients needs are met
  • Other duties as deemed as necessary

 

Qualifications:

·        Certified Health Care Aide, Early Childhood Education or Education Assistants preferred
 
·        Two (2) years experience working with children and youth.
 
·        Ability to work independently and as a team member
 
·        Demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
 
·        Ability to apply critical thinking skills
 
·        Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
 
·        Knowledge and respect of the Dakota language and culture
 
·        First Aid and CPR Certification, or willing to obtain
 
 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Clear Children and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Driver’s License and reliable vehicle as travel will be required.
  • All successful candidates must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
