Instructor, Plumbing (Term Full-Time)
Piping Trades 
 
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated October 7, 2024 up to March 31, 2025) 
 
SALARY: $33.62 - $51.43 hourly
*The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES
Reporting to the Chair of the Piping Trades department, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for Plumbing to apprentices and pre-employment students in the Plumbing program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are trade safety, tools and equipment, piping and materials, regulations and project installation, and plumbing code. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid inter-provincial journeyperson's certificate (Red Seal) in Plumbing. Valid Red Seal in another piping trade may be considered
  • Significant related industry experience in the commercial and / or residential aspects of the trade
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools and machines
  • Experience reading blueprints
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
