Position: PREVENTION WORKER – TERM, FULL-TIME

Kinonje Abinoonjiiag Niigan Inc. requires a Prevention Worker for a term position at our Main Office in Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation. The Prevention worker will provide support services to the children and families of Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation, as well as providing Preventative programming.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
· Provide families and children with support services and resources.
· Facilitate awareness, education, advocacy and counselling to engage parents, extended family and community partners in identifying problems and participate in services and supports the family needs.
· Utilize a continuum of resources, develop case plans, coordinate the resources and supports needed and arrange connections to the other community resources such as day programs, respite services and other appropriate services/resources.
· Apply interpersonal skills and work and empower children and families in reaching goals.
· Develop and maintain an individual detailed and accurate work plan.
· Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of all agency documents and records.
· Willing to work after hours and/or weekends as requested.
· Other case management duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Some post-secondary education, or an acceptable combination of education and work experience with child and family services.
· Knowledge of CFS legislation and standards.
· Knowledge of the Child & Family Information System (CFSIS).
· Excellent assessment, interviewing and counselling skills.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Sensitivity to and understanding of First Nations culture and values.
· Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and access to own vehicle.
