Introduction
Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources is looking for people who are passionate about the outdoors to join our team. Will assist Conservation Officers with patrols throughout Northern Manitoba, sell trapping licences and respond to human-wildlife conflicts.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Canadian Firearms Program Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL).
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Must meet Department Problem Wildlife Firearm Training and Certification Standard.
- Must be willing to work weekends, overtime and be on call all hours of the day
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience with problem wildlife control and/or trapping.
- Experience using rifles, shotguns, and safe storage of firearms and ammunition.
- Ability to start tasks on own initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to make safe and effective decisions under stressful situations.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Experience in mechanical, carpentry, building maintenance and minor repair of equipment using power and hand tools.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Desired:
- Experience with widlife biological sampling and data recording.
- Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR.
Duties:
Duties include assisting with fishing, hunting and trapping patrols across Northern Manitoba, selling trapping licences, holding Trapper Education training courses, assisting with equipment and building maintenance and responding to human-wildlife conflicts.
