Manitoba Hydro is looking for a Gas Integrity Engineer. Under the general supervision of the Senior Gas Integrity Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing integrity projects for natural gas assets.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse In-Line Inspection (smart pig) and pipeline survey results using industry and internal standards to select integrity excavation sites.
- Complete detailed technical studies to determine the suitability of changes to the integrity of the gas pipeline system.
- Prepare tender materials for integrity programs and projects; analyse tenders for contractor selection.
- Project manage specialized activities for pipeline system assessment and integrity data collection (e.g., external corrosion direct assessment, river crossing and geotechnical assessments, depth of cover surveys, in-line inspection, condition assessments, etc.).
- Collect data and take in-field measurements to assess pipeline imperfections, coating conditions, pipeline watercourse crossings, facilities, and geotechnical sites; assess pipeline defects and prepare and issue reports with recommendations for suitable repair methods in accordance with internal standards.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and other internal groups during fieldwork and provide project-specific training on specialized integrity tools.
- Examine natural gas assets for the suitability of operating pressure increases in compliance with CSA Z662.
- Contribute to driving the continued improvement of the Pipeline System Integrity Management Program (P-SIMP) and identify recommendations to cost-effectively manage the risk of natural gas assets.
- Prepare tender materials for general contracts including, but not limited to, in-line inspections, excavations, surveys, and engineering consultants; analyse tenders for contractor selection.
- Implement compliance-related requirements by interpreting industry standards, writing internal procedures, and preparing reports for the Public Utilities Board and Canadian Energy Regulator.
- Identify and implement improvements to Gas Integrity activities in order to enhance the capabilities of Manitoba Hydro in managing aging natural gas assets.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Mechanical, Civil, Geotechnical, or Industrial Engineering from a university of recognized standing and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience.
- Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time).
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative approaches and solutions to challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and schedule work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with personnel inside and outside the Enterprise with diplomacy.
- Previous experience in GIS software and database programming would be an asset.
- Technical knowledge related to natural gas pipeline system integrity, operation, maintenance, standards, and design would be an asset.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence and be willing to travel within and outside the province as required.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $46.06-$63.58 Hourly, $88,251.02 -$121,841.46 Annually.
