The God’s Lake Off Reserve Jordan’s Principle Family Support Worker position assists children and families with a whole variety of needs. The position is an excellent opportunity that contributes to the well being of children to achieve their full potential. The Family Support position works alongside a multi-disciplinary team in meeting the physical, emotional, educational, social, and developmental needs of children and their families. The Support Worker is responsible for developing trusting relationships with young children and their families, and is responsible for planning and scheduling a multitude of basic needs, social, recreational, and traditional activities.

 

·         Ability & motivation to work in a respectful & professional manner with children & families

·         Child development background with minimum one year experience preferred

·         Ability to plan & implement Back to Basics, recreational & social activities

·         Case Management, filing, and documentation skills required

·         Strong communication skills, (personal, phone, email, texts, Teams chat etc.)

·         Strong Team Player assets/character are essential

·         Computer Skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)

·         Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, and traditions

·         Knowledge of Land Based Programming

·         Creativity to motivate young children through fun & innovative activities

·         Knowledge of Winnipeg and its resources is an asset

 

·         Proven record of punctuality, reliability, and a hard work ethic

·         Must be able to work professionally & maintain confidentiality

·         Valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers License

·         Be able to work on some evenings and weekends

·         Other duties/tasks as assigned

·         Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

·         Clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks
