POSITION:                   MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS WORKER 
TERM:                          Full Time Term Position to Nov 17, 2025
HOURS OF WORK:      1.0 EFT (70 Hours Bi-weekly)
LOCATION:                  Ginew Wellness Center

Ginew Wellness Center is currently inviting applications for the term position of Mental Health Wellness Worker.
 
Under the supervision of the Mental Wellness Team Lead, the Wellness Worker is responsible for enhancing existing Mental Health and Wellness in Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation Community Members. The successful applicant will work as part of a team to build capacity within the RRAFN community while contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of youth, adults, and their families by ensuring they receive services.

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Assess patients’ emotional and behavioural presentation, through the application of skills in trauma informed care. 
·         Support youth, parents, or adults in lifespan development activities in the context of their mental health, through supportive counselling, strategic interventions, psychosocial development, and guidance in activities of daily living. 
·         Assist in development, implementation and facilitation of group programs as identified by community needs. 
·         Work collaboratively with all members of the Mental Health team and GWC service providers to ensure all resources are utilized to support program/service activities. 
·         Provide individuals and groups of all ages with addictions and mental health information through group presentations and through provision of resource materials.  
·         Provide in-person therapeutic interventions to youth, parents, and adults, in office, home. or school settings.

EDUCATION
·         BSW (Registered Social Worker), Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Registered Psychologist/Associate.  
 
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 
·         Recent and relevant experience in mental health services. Minimum 2 years of experience. 
·         Demonstrated ability to provide therapeutic interventions such as counselling, crisis management and coping strategies.  
·         Demonstrated expertise in current mental health assessment and treatment methods.
·         Experience with serious mental illness and high-risk clients
·         Demonstrated ability to assess clients in crisis. 
·         Valid CPR and First Aide Certification, or willing to attain. 
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
·         Ability to provide individual, family and group therapy. 
·         Excellent Case Management and facilitation skills 
·         Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
·         Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi service team. 
·         Ability to work flexible hours and travel. 
·         Understanding of Bagiwaaniskzibi (Roseau River) culture and language, would be an asset
·         Proven understanding of First Nations culture, health care and referral process High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
·         Ability to be collaborative and build positive and trusting relationships by demonstrating respect for all people.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
·         A satisfactory Criminal Record Check  
·         Valid Manitoba Driver’s License 
·         Access to a reliable vehicle 
·         Some overtime may be required

·         Negotiable and pending on qualifications and experience
