Introduction
The Manitoba Youth Centre (MYC) is currently seeking to fill multiple Education Assistant position to join their team. To be considered for this competition you must submit an application form. See below for further instructions.
Educational Assistant who are interested in corrections are encouraged to tour the correctional centre to get firsthand experience of what it would be like to be a Educational Assistant. Qualifications:
Essential:
Completion of an Educational Assistant Diploma, a combination of experience and partial completion may also be considered.
Experience working with at risk youth or youth with differential learning needs in a classroom setting.
Instructional experience or training.
Ability to follow and implement goals established by teachers and clinicians.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound judgement and decision making.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and students.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
Desired:
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and justice issues
Duties:
Teacher assistants support students and assist teachers with teaching and non-instructional tasks. They assist in areas of personal care, teaching assigned exercises and curriculum, and behaviour management under the supervision of teachers and/or Educational Coordinator.
