We are seeking an experienced Welder for permanent full-time work in Brandon, Manitoba. You will complete all tasks related to welding and fusing in the installation, repair, maintenance, and abandonment of mains and services used in the transmission and distribution systems.
Responsibilities:
- Using Shielded Metal Arc and Oxy-acetylene welding, or other recognized methods of fusing, in the installation, repair, maintenance, and abandonment of mains and services and related fittings or appurtenances within the system.
- Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and prepare materials such as piping required for the distribution system.
- Demonstrate an understanding of blueprints and related drawings in the installation of gas distribution system.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of combustion, the hazards involved in welding, and the properties and migration of natural gas by applying safety measures while working with welding materials and equipment, natural gas, and in the control of fires, leaks, and escaping gas.
- Communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, in writing and orally with co-workers, customers, outside agencies, and the general public on work-related matters as required.
- Operate vehicles in a safe, courteous and responsible manner, drive defensively, and report vehicle defects and accidents.
- Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and responsible manner, clean, repair, and fabricate parts, and maintain equipment and vehicles in good condition.
- Responsible for tools and materials issues.
- Responsible for the neat and orderly housekeeping of work area, equipment, buildings, grounds, and vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a current valid F3/F4 unrestricted Welder's Licence issued by the Office of the Fire Commissioner certifying qualification to weld under Section IX of the A.S.M.E. Code.
- Qualification to Manitoba Hydro company welding procedures, produced in accordance with C.S.A. Standard Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems. A qualification testing opportunity will be provided to select candidates.
- Attend and satisfactorily complete training courses as assigned.
- Possession of current valid Manitoba Driver's Licence, Class 5 with endorsement.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies following the standards, procedures, and policies of the company.
- Physically capable of performing duties associated with the position.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $33.31-$47.92 Hourly, $63,829.48-$91,816.66 Annually.
