POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated May 1, 2025 up to June 30, 2025) 
 
SALARY: $62,337 - $87,859 per annum

POSITION LOCATION: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

DUTIES
As a member of the Student Accessibility Services team, and under the direction of the Manager, Student Accessibility Services, the Assistive Technologist assesses and provides recommendations for assistive technology and alternate format materials for students with disabilities, provides training and technical assistance to students in the use of assistive technology, conducts ongoing research into new technologies and manages requests for alternate format materials. The successful candidate enhances accessibility awareness and inclusion within the College community by promoting the use of accessible technologies and accessible materials. The incumbent plays a key role in the management and maintenance of ClockWork scheduling software used in Student Accessibility Services. The hours of work for this position currently range between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with the possibility of evening hours in the future. The incumbent may be expected to work at either or both the Notre Dame and Exchange District Campus locations. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (e.g., Education, Occupational Therapy, Computer Science). A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Direct and on-going experience working with adults with disabilities, preferably in a post-secondary education setting
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, assistive technology (e.g., apps, software such as Read & Write, JAWS)
  • Specialized knowledge and understanding of functional limitations associated with a wide range of disabilities and appropriate assistive technology to remove barriers to access and learning
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial human rights legislation, the duty to accommodate, privacy legislation and regulations, and the Canadian Copyright Act
  • Detailed understanding of best practices related to the creation of accessible content (e.g., print, digital including electronic formats and web content)
  • Extensive computer experience including word processing, editing of digital text, databases, spreadsheet software, and a knowledge of operating systems, hardware and software
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in research and evaluation skills related to new technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using ClockWork Scheduling software

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Persons Sector Check
