Instructor, Post Graduate Certificate in Adult Education (Term Part-Time)

POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated July 7, 2025 up to December 5, 2025) 
 
SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*
*The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES
Reporting to the Chair, Adult Education and Teaching Excellence, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor fluent in Mandarin to teach the Post Graduate Certificate in Adult Education (PGCAE). The incumbent may teach the following courses: Teaching Adults, Teaching Adults Methods and Principles, Effective Learning Environments, Assessment for Learning and Teaching, and/or Course Planning. Responsibilities will include online and possible in-person classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, formative and summative student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. As a PGCAE instructor, you will facilitate practical instructional education courses, provide meaningful feedback informed by extensive teaching experience, and ensure an active and engaging learning environment.
 
This position may be required to travel to China in the summer of 2025. Successful applicants may continue to teach part-time remotely in a virtual classroom in the fall.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) or Adult Education (CAE); or Bachelor of Education; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience teaching adults at a post-secondary level
  • Experience teaching online with video conferencing and educational technologies
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
  • Experience teaching diverse learners
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Fluency in Mandarin
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered online courses
  • Master of Education degree

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • This position may be required to travel
