We are seeking a Critical Facility Systems Support Specialist to join our Control Centre Technology Systems Department. Under the general direction of the Lead Critical Facilities Engineer, this role provides technical support for the reliable operation and maintenance of critical Tier 3 facility systems by overseeing contractors and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and modifications of facility systems to enhance performance and minimize disruptions
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical engineering support for the reliable operation and maintenance of critical Tier 3 facility systems across two 24x7 control centre buildings. This includes HVAC, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, security, and life safety systems.
- Support engineering requirements by coordinating the installation, maintenance, and modifications of facility systems to optimize performance and minimize disruption to operations.
- Organize, oversee, and direct contractors working on building systems, ensuring adherence to NERC CIP policies and procedures.
- Monitor system performance, support troubleshooting efforts, and ensure root causes of system faults and failures are identified and addressed.
- Assist Facility Engineers with compliance efforts, ensuring facility systems align with applicable building codes, regulations, safety requirements and industry standards.
- Contribute to the evaluation and recommendation of technologies for enhancing system efficiency, lifespan, and reliability, collaborating with technical staff within the department and across the Corporation.
- Provide technical assistance in planning and coordinating maintenance, upgrades, and improvement activities to support system efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
- Contribute to budget planning, resource allocation, and long-term maintenance strategies for critical facility systems.
- Support internal project teams in planning and executing engineering projects related to facility systems.
- Manage vendor and contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and that work meets all required technical specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for process improvements in facility operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including system operations, corporate facilities, and corporate security, to support facility management initiatives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation of all facility systems, including maintenance records, compliance reports, and system modifications.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential issues related to facility systems.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans to ensure quick and effective responses to system failures or other emergencies. Provide 24-hour support (standby) as part of the on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
- A two year Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Technology from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of five years directly related experience in the fields of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Operational Technologies (OT), Building Management Systems and critical building systems infrastructures and associated Information Technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of the entire lifecycle of critical facility systems, encompassing their theory, operation, maintenance, condition monitoring, repair, overhaul, and replacement
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance principles, applicable regulatory standards, established procedures, and best practices to ensure the reliable operation of critical facility systems.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, manage, and oversee teams of contractors performing work on complex building systems.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, organize, schedule and complete a high volume of work within strict timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with external and internal contacts in multiple departments and positions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Tier 3 critical infrastructure, station automation systems, process control systems, energy management systems and center centre environmental systems plus the maintenance and support of these systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NERC CIP Standards, Programs and Procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of applicable building codes, regulations, safety requirements and industry standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and keeping pace with changing technology and related best practices.
- Demonstrated forward thinking and ability to identify and implement continuous improvement.
- Obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
- Completed Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training prior to transfer and renewed annually.
- Completed Standards of Conduct training within two weeks of start date and renewed annually.
- Reside within the headquarters zone.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence with appropriate classification.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $43.35-$59.82 Hourly, $83,070.78-$114,625.68 Annually.
