Are you a student searching for that right summer opportunity?  Are you interested in learning more about First Nations Health Research?  If you answered yes to these questions, then keep reading this ad for your opportunity to support the movement of improving the Health Status of First Nations people in Manitoba.
 
FNHSSM is hiring six (6) summer students, four students will be placed within the Research Department, where they will support a variety of projects including the Data Sovereignty team, the COVID-19 Special Project, the Health Information Research Governance Committee (HIRGC), the Manitoba First Nations Data Team, the Strengthening Families – Maternal Child Health (SF-MCH) program, and the Reclaiming Manitoba First Nations Data Initiative. One student will be assigned to the Diabetes Integration Project (DIP), where they will assist with the development of educational materials, youth engagement activities, and creative health communication content to promote diabetes prevention and education for First Nations youth. One student will work within the Intergovernmental Department, supporting both the National Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS) through work on the Suicide Intervention Curriculum, and the Anti-Indigenous Racism Training program by assisting with curriculum development, participant coordination, and program evaluation activities. All students will gain valuable experience in research, program coordination, and community health initiatives while contributing to work that directly supports First Nations communities in Manitoba.

What are we looking for? We’ll keep this brief:
·         First Nations secondary or post-secondary student who will be returning to school in Fall 2025;
·         Excellent communication and writing skills;
·         Understanding of First Nations history and how it relates to current health priorities.
