Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, the DOTC Director of Health is responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide variety of projects and initiatives with respect to health services represented by the various programs of Dakota Ojibway Health Services Team. The Director of Health will provide leadership and direction to a team of health professionals and administrative staff committed to enhancing the wellbeing of Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council’s member First Nations.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, the DOTC Director of Health is responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide variety of projects and initiatives with respect to health services represented by the various programs of Dakota Ojibway Health Services Team. The Director of Health will provide leadership and direction to a team of health professionals and administrative staff committed to enhancing the wellbeing of Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council’s member First Nations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide Leadership and direction to all DOHS staff
· Lead the planning and implementation of strategic and operational health programs.
· Oversee service delivery, budgets, reporting, and compliance with health standards and funding agreements.
· Assist in the development, coordination and facilitation of community workshops with respect to health issues, programs, and services.
· Build effective partnerships that will improve the health and wellness of the member First Nation communities.
· Guide the transition of Dakota Ojibway Health Services into an Integrated Health Services Authority.
· Manage, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary health care team to provide health programs and services.
· Identify financial support options, develop proposals, coordinate, and prepare reports.
· Liaise with relevant outside health and social service organizations and funding bodies.
· Monitor emerging trends and developments in Indigenous health and wellness and provide timely briefings to leadership to support informed decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Post-Secondary education in Health Administration or related field; will consider equivalent training/experience
· Certification as a First Nation Health Manager, or current enrollment in the program, is considered a strong asset.
· Minimum five (5) years [DOH1] experience within a senior administrative role
· Demonstrated leadership and team building ability
· Strong understanding and experience with Indigenous Services Canada funding agreements
· Experience in development and delivery of community health programs and services
· Knowledge of culture, traditions, attitudes and socio-economic conditions of the First Nations communities
· Ability to work within budgets and experienced in proposal writing for additional funding
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Valid Manitoba Driver’s License
· Access to a reliable vehicle
