We are seeking a Risk Management Lead to join our Project Services Department. Under the general direction of the Project Risk and Performance Section head, is responsible for leadership, advisory and facilitation services in the new and ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of risk management, standards, procedures and processes for the Project Management Division. Will act as a key resource in supporting senior leadership in appropriate risk management practices that ensure risks facing the Corporation related to Major Capital Projects, Business Operating Capital and long-term planning are appropriately identified, communicated, and managed to acceptable levels.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in complex risk intelligent decision-making across the division relating to identifying and prioritizing risks, assessing risk, completing independent/objective evaluations of risks and processes, and recommending improvements to the associated controls or business proposals considered.
- Lead contingency assessments, workshops, risk register development, and contingency management on large complex projects using analytical risk management tools and recommended practices.
- Lead the development of risk assessments and risk decision modeling to support identifying and responding effectively to prioritize risks using quantitative and qualitative risk analysis.
- Develop and manage Project Management standards, procedures, and system related to risk management, and ensure alignment to the ERM framework..
- Ensure that the risk response strategies are aligned within the Project Management Division risk tolerance and the risks are monitored and managed accordingly.
- Work with a cross-Business Unit team of professionals to do risk analyses and recommendations on long-term planning options, scenarios, and ad hoc requests.
- Conduct regular risk communication meetings, develop reports and presentation related to the Project Management Division risk profile.
- Research and maintain familiarity with existing market and industry related to projects and program risk management and ensure that divisional risk processes and procedures meet industry standards.
- Facilitate the development of a risk intelligent culture and risk-based decisions across the Project Management Division.
- Work closely with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Division to integrate and ensure alignment between Project Management Division risk management practice and the ERM framework.
- Support the implementation of appropriate training and learning and development activities to improve risk knowledge across the Business Unit.
- Collaborate with the Project Control team and responsible for integrating risk management and contingency with the change management, project performance, trends, and forecast.
Qualifications:
- A four-year Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management, business, economics, or other relevant discipline from a university of recognized standing and six years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating the skills and competencies required by this position.
OR - A Professional Designation (CPA or CFA) with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating the skills and competencies required by this position.
- Extensive knowledge in the area of risk management, including industry standards and best practices and procedures.
- Proven ability to successfully contribute to complex initiatives, projects, and teams.
- Ability to perform in a coordinating role effectively and diplomatically.
- Experience in project control tools, risk management tools, and change management is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in developing successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage a diverse team towards risk management implementation.
- Insight into the various project issues in general, with strong analytical skills to understand and determine the implication of qualitative and quantitative information and data.
- A high degree of integrity, initiative, creativity, and judgement, with a proven ability to work independently under broad guidelines and minimum supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.32-$65.33 Hourly, $90,677.86-$125,192.08 Annually.
