Under the general direction of the Cloud Technology Specialist Lead and working with the Technology Platform team, is responsible to assist senior staff in implementing cloud-based solutions.
This includes standing up cloud services, maintaining security controls and policies. You will also be involved in configuring networking for these services.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of Azure infrastructure, including (not limited to) virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking resources.
- Monitor and optimize resource utilization to ensure efficient operation and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to configure and maintain various Azure services such as Azure App Service, Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, and more.
- Ensure the proper integration and functionality of Azure services within the overall solution architecture.
- Implement and adhere to security best practices for Azure environments, including identity and access management, encryption, authentication, and compliance standards.
- Participate in regular security audits and assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
- Work closely with the Security team to implement industry's security best practices.
- Provide support for Azure-based solutions, troubleshooting issues and responding to incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with senior team members to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
- Develops, automates, and maintains tools using an automate-first mindset to improve quality and repeatability of software and infrastructure configuration development and deployment.
- Learn and utilize automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of automation scripts for deployment, configuration, and maintenance processes.
- Create and maintain detailed code of our Azure environment in Terraform.
- Support teams adopting DevSecOps by assisting with building pipelines, support Azure DevOps, Github, etc.
Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with two years cloud experience demonstrating the skills and qualities required by this position.
OR - A two-year diploma in Computer Programming Technology from an institute of recognized standing and four years of cloud experience demonstrating the skills and qualities required by this position.
- Any of the following Cloud certifications; Azure Security Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or similar GCP/AWS certifications.
- 6+ Months Experience in cloud computing infrastructure (IaaS and PaaS), ideally with Azure.
- 6+ months creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- 6+ Months Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as terraform, chef, puppet, etc.
- Experience with monitoring & logging technologies, KQL and best practices
- Have general scripting skills (PowerShell), along with knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and C#.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- Basic Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Ability to work in a flexible work environment that embraces rapid change, emphasizes continuous learning, and attacks new challenges.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
- Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the System Developer I classification is $27.88-$37.36 Hourly, $53,425.06-$71,594.90 Annually. The range for the System Developer II classification is $34.80-$48.16 Hourly, $66,691.04-$92,279.98 Annually.
