2 Year TERM Position External Posting
Position Summary:
As a member of the board of directors, the incumbent will play a vital leadership role in participating in the strategic direction of the agency, governance and the sustainability of the organization including financial accountability. Board members are responsible for ensuring the agency fulfills its mission to support, protect and advocate on behalf of the children and families of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. Meeting participation is a requirement with some travel involved.
Qualifications:
· Must be a resident of Manitoba and over the age of eighteen years.
· Financial background would be an asset.
· Knowledge and understanding of First Nations traditional culture and traditional philosophy.
· Must have the ability to actively participate in board deliberations.
· Exhibit a demonstrated commitment to leading a lifestyle consistent with the mandate of the Corporation.
· Are willing to respect other Board members, share power in the group process and be comfortable delegating the management of the Corporation to the Executive Director.
· Minimum of two-years’ of experience working in a child welfare setting and/or a related field of study.
· Ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway language would be an asset.
· Knowledge of Provincial Legislation and Standards, Child & Family Services Act.
· Required to complete and pass Prior Contact Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
· A valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle is required as travel is extensive.
