About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Ending Violence Facilitator to join our team. This role focuses on teaching and supporting communities outside Winnipeg about what gender-based violence (GBV) is and how it impacts Indigenous people, specifically women and two-spirited folks.
This project works across many sectors like health, justice, schools, social services, and more.  You will support First Nations communities build their own tools and plans to respond to violence.  This includes creating and testing a new Indigenous GBV Toolkit and helping organizations measure the impact of their work.
You’ll also be part of a network of people and communities working together to stop violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Visit and work with First Nations communities across Manitoba
  • Lead learning sessions on GBV in-person and online
  • Support the creation of a GBV Toolkit and training materials
  • Help design a tool to measure GBV risks and program impacts
  • Help translate materials into Ojibway and Cree
  • Work with the project team to test and improve new GBV tools
  • Promote collaboration and learning between communities
What You Bring
  • Experience working in gender-based violence or 2SLGBTQQIA+ rights
  • 1–2 years of experience leading group workshops or training
  • Comfortable speaking in front of people, both online and in person
  • Good writing and speaking skills in English
  • Strong organizational skills and able to manage your time well
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community needs
  • Fluency in Ojibway and/or Cree is a strong asset
  • Education in a related field like education, history, or social sciences, or a combination of lived and work experience
