DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Learners’ Assistance Centre (LAC) Coordinator will promote excellence in student support. The LAC Coordinator will provide academic support through a variety of services to enable students’ success to students on campus and in community programming. The Coordinator will provide group and/or individual academic support in a variety of subject areas as well as remedial instruction in basic skills, college level numeracy and tutorial assistance. The successful incumbent will coordinate the Student Peer Tutoring program, as well as develop and deliver workshops and short courses for student success and skill development throughout the academic year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor of Arts or Education degree; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Experience in the area of learning strategies
• Experience working with adult learners
• Experience in workshop development and facilitation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to take initiative and to work independently
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Proficient computer skills in MS Office 365
• Ability to understand cultural influences and issues specific to adult learners in northern communities
• Commitment to life-long learning
