Position: Senior Resident Support Mentor

This is a full-time six-month term position with possibility of extension. The hours are Monday to Friday; some evening work could be required.  

Position Description:  

Under the direction and supervision of the Operations Manager and in accordance with Centre standards, philosophy and goals the Senior RSM is the team lead responsible for the training, guidance, coaching and mentoring and scheduling of the Resident Support Mentors (RSM) at Eagle Women’s Lodge. The Senior RSM ensures that they adhere to all policies and procedures and perform their various duties in a highly efficient manner.  The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring all statistical data needed for programming and tracking of all occupancy data is collected and recorded as per policy.  The Senior RSM is also responsible for scheduling and arranging escorts for all ETA’s.

Qualifications Required:  

  • Certificate in the field of human services preferred and a minimum of one year related social service work experience including staff mentoring or a combination of education and work experience deemed equivalent by IWHC. IWHC reserves the right to consider any combination of work and life experience deemed acceptable.
  • Must have experience in staff supervision.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work as a team leader.
  • Must have the skills to mentor, guide, and coach staff in the performance of their duties without judgement and with full transparency.
  • Must be able to work in a high stress/fast paced setting.
  • Must have excellent skills in both verbal and written communication.
  • Must have the ability to understand the dynamics of offenders' behavior and assess their needs and risks.
  • Must have the skills to form effective relationships and gain trust.
  • Must have the ability to understand cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, community needs and issues, and Indigenous women's issues.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language or dialect considered an asset.

You must complete a Corrections Services of Canada Enhanced Reliability Security Check, and have a Valid Manitoba Driver’s License.
