Introduction
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is currently seeking qualified individual to fill Mobile Operations Technician position located in West St. Paul. Please note that the location may be changed to Winnipeg, depending on operational requirements.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the province and stay overnight as required.
  • Must be able to work various shifts including some weekends.
  • Must be physically capable to perform the duties that are associated with this position, that include to stand for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry 22.5 kg.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of climatic conditions.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or completion of Department Level 3 training courses or suitable combination of education with experience in a materials testing environment.
  • Directly related materials testing experience.
  • Knowledge in the Mobile Operations Field Assistant environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to generate records and reports.
  • Experienced and proficient with Microsoft Office software package (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management policies and procedures.
Duties:
The Mobile Operations Technician (MOT) reports to the Central/Mobile Labs Manager and has supervisory responsibility for engineering aids on a project site.

The MOT performs advanced specialized technical work and material engineering related functions and is responsible for independent decisions related to hour to hour operations, ensuring department standards, specifications, policies, procedures and Workplace Safety and Health Acts are followed, working with other technical positions.
