Location: 100% remote or hybrid work environment; 2 days a week in the office in Ottawa

What you bring

You possess several years of experience in business management or operations, ideally within a translation agency or a similar setting. Your expertise extends to leading business functions including workflow optimization, technology implementation, data analysis, and human resources coordination. Your strong analytical skills enable you to collect and report on performance metrics and KPIs, providing valuable insights for continuous improvement. In addition to your supervisory experience, you are recognized for your excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, which allow you to foster productive connections with both internal clients and team members. Your familiarity with project management tools and digital systems ensures well-documented and consistent service delivery, while your contributions to budget planning and resource allocation demonstrate your ability to support sustainable growth.

Your opportunity and responsibilities

In this role, you will support the Program Leader, Translation Services in managing operational and human resources requirements to ensure scalable and effective translation service delivery. You will lead the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of core business functions that enhance intake, workflow management, tracking, and quality control systems. By streamlining the coordination of translation requests, you will help align operational practices with team priorities and service standards across the organization. Your ability to analyze and report on operational data—such as work volume, service levels, and team capacity—will inform planning, forecasting, and ongoing process improvements. As a key liaison with internal clients, you will contribute to aligning business objectives with the delivery of translation projects. As a team supervisor, you will support recruitment, onboarding, and the ongoing professional development of your team. Additionally, you will develop internal procedures and documentation to ensure quality control, consistency, and effective knowledge transfer within the team. Your responsibilities will also include contributing to staffing plans, budget development, resource allocation, and building business cases to support the team’s sustainable growth and long-term success.

Your skills, experience, and fit

  • Minimum: university degree in business administration, project management, public administration or a related field.
  • Experience: At least five years in business management or operations, preferably within a translation agency or in a similar setting.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practices, methods and trends in communications and business management.
  • Familiarity with standard translation tools, Microsoft Office, project management principles, and communications best practices.
As the successful candidate, you may fulfill your role in hybrid mode (2 days a week in the office) if you live in the National Capital Region. You may also work remotely in Canada (within easy commuting distance of a major centre or travel hub).
