SALARY: $56,607 - $79,848 per annum

DUTIES
Reporting to the Director, Building Efficiency Technology Access Centre (BETAC) the Research Technologist is required to assist with the daily-applied research, technical services and specialized education and training within the Centre. The incumbent will assist with the delivery of a variety of applied research projects and technical services, with a primary focus on BETAC’s joint research project on airtightness testing and training for large buildings, and energy efficient building envelope designs. The incumbent will also support a variety of other projects within BETAC and the Centre for Applied Research in Sustainable Infrastructure (CARSI), including the testing of thermal, air, water and structural properties of building envelope assemblies; and utilizing other laboratory equipment for materials testing to support BETAC’s work in energy efficient design. This will include experimental design, field and laboratory testing, gathering and analyzing test data. Along with this, the incumbent will provide technical input for the development of funding and project proposals, and identify appropriate materials, equipment, and supplies to purchase for supporting Centre activities. The incumbent will be working in a team environment with Research Professionals, industry partners, instructors, staff, and students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Diploma in Instrumentation or Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of related field/work experience in the building sciences area and education, may be considered
- Relevant and progressive work experience in the industry
- Experience with laboratory testing of building envelope systems or HVAC systems, including the installation and use of sensors and associated data acquisition equipment
- Experience in project management, conducting applied research and familiarity with research management systems
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated knowledge of field-testing methods of building envelopes

- Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
