Under the general direction of the SAP Applications Department Manager, the SAP Technical Services Lead is responsible for the strategic oversight, leadership, and operational management of all technical domains within the SAP ecosystem. This includes SAP development, infrastructure, and security across ECC and S/4HANA platforms, with a strong emphasis on cloud modernization, compliance, and innovation.

You will supervise the SAP Technical Platform Specialist and other technical personnel, ensuring cohesive execution of SAP architecture, integration, and sustainment operations. This role requires deep expertise in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), RISE with SAP, and hybrid cloud infrastructure, along with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.

The SAP Technical Services Lead will champion continuous improvement, technical governance, and strategic alignment of SAP systems with Manitoba Hydro's business objectives and digital transformation goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all SAP technical domains, including development, infrastructure, and security.
  • Lead technical planning and governance for SAP S/4HANA implementation and sustainment, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business priorities.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff, including the SAP Technical Platform Specialist, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, policies, and procedures across SAP environments.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service-level agreements (SLAs) for private cloud services and third-party providers.
  • Oversee SAP development initiatives including ABAP, RICEFW, CDS views, embedded analytics, and Fiori app development.
  • Guide adoption and integration of SAP BTP services, ensuring scalable and secure development practices.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to ensure technical solutions meet business requirements and performance expectations.
  • Direct system landscape management across ECC and S/4HANA environments, including cloud infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle operations.
  • Lead technical operations including BASIS administration, HANA database management, transport control, and change management.
  • Drive implementation of monitoring and automation frameworks to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Ensure seamless integration infrastructure across SAP and non-SAP platforms, including middleware and cloud services.
  • Oversee SAP security architecture including IAM, authorizations, and system/data protection.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead cloud security initiatives and readiness assessments for internal and external audits.
  • Promote secure development and infrastructure practices across SAP environments.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to SAP technical capabilities.
  • Lead technical innovation projects that support Manitoba Hydro's digital transformation strategy.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, documentation, and onboarding practices to strengthen team capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • A four year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Management from a recognized university, with a minimum of six years of directly applicable SAP technical experience, including two in a leadership or supervisory role;
    OR
  • A two year diploma in Computer Programming Technology or Business Administration from a recognized institute, with a minimum of eight years of directly applicable SAP technical experience, including two years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP technical architecture, including BASIS, HANA, and cloud operations (RISE and BTP).
  • Proven experience in SAP development lifecycle management, including ABAP, CDS, and Fiori.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, transport management, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated leadership in SAP security, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Experience managing vendor SLAs and cloud service providers.
  • Proficiency in system monitoring tools, automation frameworks, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Willingness to work outside regular hours and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating per Manitoba Hydro Policy P513.

Salary Range 
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.23-$70.19 Hourly, $98,171.06-$134,498.00 Annually.
