Introduction
Manitoba Wildifire Service is looking for a Wildfire Base Manager located at the Lac du Bonnet Wildfire Centre.  

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent as well possess and acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Must be physically capable to perform the duties required of the position such as lifting 60 lbs.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, statutory holidays and overtime as required.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and overnight at other sites for work and training courses away from the work location. 
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Experience in planning, organizing, maintenance and repairs of infrastructure, facilities and grounds, including participating in, monitoring and supervising construction and/or maintenance projects.
  • Experience operating and maintaining various types of equipment and tools including 5 ton truck, vehicles, small tractors, skid steer, riding mowers, string grass trimmers, electric and manual hand tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to plan and prioritize complex and changing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.
  • Experience in project management including cost estimating, purchasing supplies and materials and inventory control.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with the public and to work as part of team.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
Desired:
  • Experience with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations. 
Duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs to various infrastructure, grounds and equipment within the Wildfire Base and assist with various projects throughout the Eastern Region.  Duties include: planning, participating in and supervising various construction and maintence projects, completing repairs to various types of infrastructure, assist with planning and supervising of future capital projects, the procurement of supplies, goods and inventory management; and daily janitorial duties.
