SALARY: $52,988 - $74,570 per annum

Reporting to the Chair, the Educational Assistant (EA) plays a vital role in supporting both faculty and students within the Life Sciences Department. This position requires an enthusiastic, adaptable, and detail-oriented individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to facilitating learning, maintaining organized and safe laboratory spaces, and contributing to the overall quality and effectiveness of program delivery. The role supports a range of disciplines, including Quality Assurance, Food Processing, Chemistry, Microbiology, Instrumentation, and Tissue Culture, and contributes to a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Recent and relevant work experience in Life Sciences, Science Laboratory Technology, Pharmaceutical and Food Manufacturing Programs/ Laboratory environment and/or industry experience
- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment
- Experience working as a learning facilitator, tutor, or in an educational support role with students in an academic environment
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work effectively in dynamic settings with frequent interruptions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to apply conflict resolution and communication techniques to support positive outcomes
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant applications
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related Life Sciences field
- Background or training in Quality Assurance practices
