The opportunity:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing engaging events that promote our organization's mission and values while fostering meaningful connections within the community. Additionally, they will leverage various social media platforms to enhance our online presence, drive brand and organizational awareness, and facilitate interactive engagement.
Event planning and execution involve meticulous coordination and strategic implementation to ensure successful outcomes. From conceptualization to post-event evaluation, this process encompasses various stages such as venue selection, budget management, vendor coordination, logistics, marketing, and attendee engagement. Attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances are key skills required for seamless execution. By meticulously planning every aspect and incorporating creative elements tailored to the target audience, events can effectively achieve their objectives, whether it's fostering community engagement, raising brand awareness, or achieving fundraising goals.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
Preference will be given to Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) candidates. Please self-declare in cover letter.
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
- Knowledge of university regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program.
- Three years of directly related administrative experience is required.
- 3 years of relevant experience in event planning and execution, preferably within a nonprofit or community-focused organization required.
- Experience in managing social media platforms for organizations, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement required.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and execute successful events, including logistics, vendor management, and attendee engagement required.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve organizational objectives required.
- Familiarity with strategic planning processes and experience in supporting the development and implementation of strategic plans required.
- Prior experience in producing periodic reports and summarizing data related to strategic plan milestones required.
- Experience in recruitment initiatives or human resources may be preferred, particularly for promoting recruitment within Ongomiizwin Health Services required.
- Familiarity with Indigenous, Social Justice, and Antiracism initiatives or relevant work experience in related fields required.
- Experience with indigenous cultures, customs and protocols required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively required.
- Attention to detail and effective communication are crucial throughout the process required.
- Adaptability to unforeseen circumstances is essential for seamless execution required.
- Proficiency in event planning and execution, including logistics management and vendor coordination required.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders required.
- Proficient in social media management, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement across various platforms required.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to achieve organizational objectives required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in producing reports and summarizing data related to strategic plan milestones required.
- Adaptability and flexibility are required to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to equity, access and participation principles required.
- Knowledge of Indigenous Health, Social Justice, and Antiracism initiatives and a willingness to learn and engage with these topics are required.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
