POSITION OVERVIEW: Southeast Child & Family Services is seeking a committed, culturally grounded, and highly skilled Family Preservation Program Manager to lead our family wellness and preservation initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering culturally meaningful, intensive short-term and ongoing interventions that support children, youth, young adults, and families in strengthening their wellbeing and preserving family systems. The Manager will oversee all program operations, supervise program staff, and work collaboratively with Program Facilitators and the Directors of Services to ensure that program goals are met with integrity, cultural respect, and service excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Implement program policies, operational procedures, and participant engagement strategies that support family preservation.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to program employees; coordinate contracted workshop facilitators.
- Ensure the programs reflect the realities and needs of the families being served.
- Establish and maintain quality networks with community resources and service providers to enhance collaboration and service coordination.
- Lead efforts to develop and strengthen community partnerships that support holistic family wellbeing.
- Prepare and write funding proposals, program justifications, and supporting documents to meet resource needs and enhance program offerings.
- Work collaboratively SECFS management to meet program objectives and service standards.
- Participate in the ongoing development, evaluation, and enhancement of family preservation services.
- Work with Human Resources to support recruitment, orientation, and professional development of program staff to ensure staff are knowledgeable of SECFS standards and policies.
- Travel to designated First Nations communities and rural areas as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in social services (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in child welfare (supervisory experience is considered an asset)
- Knowledge of the First Nation culture and communities receiving service from SECFS
- Strong working knowledge of the issues relating to child protection, prevention and intervention services
- Demonstrated experience, working knowledge of and familiarity with:
- An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis children, youth and families, The Child and Family Services Act; Anishinaabe child welfare practices; First Nations history and colonization
- Mentoring and overseeing staff in a rapidly changing environment
- Crisis intervention; supporting young adults and families; assessment of high-risk situations to determine appropriate services
- Addictions; family violence; child abuse/neglect; grief and loss issues; and community resources
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office i.e. word, excel and outlook.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record; Child Abuse Registry; and Prior Contact Check.
