Position Overview:
Reporting to the Data Architecture Lead, the SAP Data Architect is responsible for architecting, designing, and reviewing the development and implementation of innovative enterprise analytics solutions that require SAP data and use SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud and Databricks. The SAP Data Architect will consult with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Developers on design specification diagrams for enterprise analytics in collaboration with SAP Developers and SAP Business Systems Analysts to understand SAP data structures and relationships. The SAP Data Architect will also be responsible for sustaining existing enterprise analytics solutions that use SAP data.

Success in this role will be measured by the ability to design robust and scalable SAP analytics solutions that meet business needs and adhere to best practices, including the effective implementation of data architecture strategies, creation of effective and efficient data models, and seamless integration of SAP and non-SAP data.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect, design, and review the implementation of new enterprise analytics solutions leveraging SAP data using SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, and Databricks.  
  • Sustain existing enterprise analytics solutions that use SAP data. 
  • Develop and implement data architecture strategies that align with the organization's business goals, SAP best practices, data & analytics practices, and enterprise architecture. 
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical analytical data models for SAP data. 
  • Design data structures to facilitate analytics, reporting, and machine learning using SAP data.
  • Design the architecture to integrate SAP data with non-SAP data for Analytics.
  • Consult with Data Architects, Data Engineers and Data Developers on design specification diagrams for enterprise analytics in collaboration with SAP Developers and SAP Business Systems Analysts to understand SAP data structures and relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership leveraging a deep understanding of SAP data and technologies, including SAP ECC, BW on HANA, Data Services, SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT), AFO - Analysis for Office, SAP S/4, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Engage with SAP, Gartner and other Utilities to stay on top of SAP roadmap announcements.
  • Deliver the architectural design of technology solutions, utilizing knowledge of defined reference architectures, technology trends, and implementation experience to translate a business need into a solution blueprint that represents an end-to-end solution.
  • Ensure the logical and physical architecture for a project aligns with the standards and reference architectures defined by the technical domain and enterprise architects; and is aligned with Corporate Strategies.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop, improve, and maintain enterprise architecture, governance, reference architectures, technology standards, technical capability guidelines, and guardrails.
  • Align with Cyber Security and be an advocate of data security and data governance principles and ensure appropriate security and governance practices are embedded in all our products and processes.
  • Analyze the current solution portfolio to detect gaps/deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Lead and facilitate research and assessment of emerging trends and advancements in technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop and evolve solution and data architecture principles, standards, and patterns to support decision-making.

Qualifications:
  • A four year degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of five years general IT experience, including three years of directly applicable SAP Data & Analytics, architecture, and programming experience;
    OR
  • A two year diploma in Computer Programming Technology or relevant discipline from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of seven years general IT experience, including three years of directly applicable SAP Data & Analytics, architecture, and programming experience.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in data architecture, database design, and data modeling.
  • Solid understanding of data management principles and best practices.
  • In depth knowledge of ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) tools and processes. 
  • Experience with SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Delivered Analytics content, preferred. 
  • Experience with Databricks, preferred. 
  • Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) tools and processes.
  • Experience with SAP Data Services and SAP Landscape Transformation, preferred. 
  • Proficiency in BW on HANA, preferred. 
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4 HANA architecture and implementation, preferred.  
  • Experience in DevOps and Agile (Scrum/Kanban), preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience with leading, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Ability to document, model, and analyse complex processes, people, data, and technology to formulate recommended architectures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be the technical lead on multiple projects or activities with competing priorities. 
  • Experience with bridging communication on complex requirements between technical and business oriented audiences. 
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad network of stakeholders and teams. 
  • Sound knowledge on Enterprise Architecture and Cyber Security principles. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address data-related issues. 
  • Must have completed Standards of Conduct Training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.22-$65.19 Hourly, $90,484.68-$124,925.58 Annually.
