Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Hydrometric Section Head and Thompson Supervisor, will perform a variety of complex administrative and technical functions requiring judgement in broader aspects of established procedures and practices related to the daily operations and logistical requirements of the Hydrometric Section.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of real-time data in WISKI by entering reset water level values in real time for the appropriate station, closing open ended gauge corrections at the correct date/time and checking the accuracy of and entering survey site/field visit notes into the field notes application. 
  • Maintain inventory of field equipment using WASP application, managing equipment as per the lifecycle management protocol. Ship and receive new and repaired equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Utilizing the Brass Cap vertical control application to confirm field staff accuracy in completing and recording benchmark tie-in circuits and the accuracy of the circuits meet defined minimum standards.
  • Booking appropriate helicopter air charter services with contracted vendors, creating manifest entries as per operating requirements and current flying services contract. Receiving air charter invoices, creating service entries in SAP and ensuring an accurate assignment and accounting of order numbers or network and activity numbers including fuel and landing fees under an annual budget of approximately $1M. Forwarding approved service entries to accounts payable in a timely manner.
  • Initiating, processing and maintaining SAP functions such as purchase orders, service entries, goods receipts and purchase requisitions. 
  • Responsible for time and expense entry within the HRMS system ensuring accuracy of inputs and account distributions. 
  • Organizing and booking internal and external safety training for required courses such as swift water training, ice rescue technician level two certification, shotgun proficiency certifications, winter survival, aviation egress etc. 
  • Organizing all section logistical functions such as booking flights, hotel rooms, rental vehicles, meeting rooms, medical trips, and northern trips.
  • Maintain stock and ordering from Central Stores and other suppliers.
  • Performing real time flight watch and staff field monitoring and recording as per the sections Working Alone or in Isolation Policy. Tracking all check in time adherence and preparations for SAR activities in the event of an emergency. 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade 12 education plus three years of directly related experience. 
    OR
  • Minimum Grade 12 plus completion of commercial or vocational special courses in a related field plus two years directly related experience.
  • Must have an advanced working knowledge of SAP. Microsoft Office, HRMS, Kisters Wiski and be willing to learn new software systems.
  • An aptitude for mathematics and knowledge of data base management systems with attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Corporation policies, procedures, external vendor contracts and union agreements.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating effectively orally and in writing. 
  • Possess and maintain a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $29.99-$41.09 Hourly, $57,470.66-$78,744.64 Annually.
