Introduction
Manitoba Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking a qualified individual to join the regional fisheries management and administrative teams in the Gimli Regional Office. Duties:
Reporting to the Regional Fisheries Manager, the Regional Fisheries Clerk is responsible for administering the overall commercial fish licencing and production record keeping system for the Central Region. This responsibility includes considerable data entry and analysis, file maintenance, distribution of licences, reconciliation of quotas and licences and responding to requests from the public/resource users including approximately 1,200 Manitoba commercial fishers. The position requires considerable judgment, knowledge and responsible decision making in carrying out the specialized assignment of issuing commercial licenses, coordinating quota transfers and managing production/trade records in relation to the requirements of The Fisheries Act of Manitoba and associated commercial fishing regulations.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience in providing administrative and clerical support
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders
- Experience in developing and maintaining spreadsheets and/or databases including entering data with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Experience interpreting, applying and communicating policies and procedures
- Able to work independently with a strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong written communication skills, including taking meeting minutes and drafting letters to the general public
- Excellent verbal communications including the ability to deliver information in a clear and effective manner
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, or equivalent software
- Experience in handling cash, issuing receipts and reconciling cash transactions
