DUTIES
Reporting to the Facility Manager the Maintenance/Gardener is responsible for maintenance, repairs (plumbing, mechanical and carpentry duties etc.), grounds keeping, and operating machinery and custodial equipment within the UCN The Pas campus and UCN sites. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the day-to-day maintenance and grounds keeping, responding to and reporting maintenance requests, performing routine walk-throughs of the buildings and sites, taking appropriate actions as needed, performing minor maintenance repairs, responding to emergency calls for assistance when needed and other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with gardening/groundskeeping tasks including maintenance and repair of gardening/snow removal equipment and safe operation of mowers, weeding equipment, snow blowers and other grounds maintenance equipment
• Experience operating automotive equipment, machinery, hand and power tools, in a safe manner
• Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of safe use and application of chemicals (i.e. WHMIS)
• Effective time management skills including the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while organizing work, meeting deadlines, and follow through on tasks until completion
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS

• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Occasional travel may be required
