FIELD PLACEMENT SUPERVISOR

DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean, Kenanow Faculty of Education and working collaboratively with faculty, the Field Placement Supervisor oversees and supports teaching practicum experiences for Education students, including supervision, assessment of student performance, and accurate record keeping. The incumbent will travel to various UCN Access Centres including Tataskweyak Cree Nation, Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, Chemawawin Cree Nation, Pinaymootang Cree Nation and Sandy Bay First Nation to facilitate student orientation sessions, teach placement preparation seminars, and conduct student evaluations as required. The Field Placement Supervisor operates within established program objectives and is guided through program development and review processes, meetings, and regular feedback, with evaluation informed by classroom observation, student feedback, and course evaluations, and support provided by the Academic Coordinator
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in education or relevant subject field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in First Nations or provincial public school (K-12)
• Understanding of cultural and language influences specific to adult learners in northern communities
• Ability to integrate Indigenous knowledge into all courses
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS
• School Administration experience
• Teacher/practicum student evaluation experience
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license as travel is required
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry
