Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President, People, Safety, Health & Wellness, the Director, People Planning & Strategy is a key member of the leadership team responsible for designing, developing, and integrating strategic HR programs and systems. This includes talent management and learning, talent acquisition, diversity, equity and inclusion, total rewards, organizational effectiveness (including workforce planning), and employee experience.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, innovative relationship builder who brings creativity, strategic insight, and a sense of urgency to the role. This position is well suited for a leader who excels at building trust, developing new systems, and introducing modern approaches that strengthen enterprise-wide people strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead, and deliver innovative, integrated talent programs and systems.
- Partner with leaders to develop and execute both long-term and short-term people strategies that directly support and enable business objectives.
- Develop and implement performance and development programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Develop, lead and deliver comprehensive, integrated talent systems including a strategic and tactical workforce plan.
- Develop and lead total rewards strategy including compensation and benefits, disability management, health and wellness.
- Oversee the talent acquisition strategy including branding.
- Lead the diversity, equity and inclusion strategy.
- Lead and develop organizational effectiveness strategy.
- Lead and champion a culture of continuous evaluation and process improvement.
- Work collaboratively with the enterprise and within the Business Unit to build strong relationships, guiding the team to support front line employees and leaders while ensuring fair and balanced outcomes.
Qualifications:
- University degree in an appropriate discipline complemented by a minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations are an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise across a broad range of HR disciplines, with significant leadership experience in a Centre of Expertise model within a large, complex, unionized environment.
- Proven ability to build trusting relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and achieve required objectives.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, problem-solving, planning, systems thinking and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated use of sound judgment and reliable decision making.
- Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self-motivation and business acumen.
- Demonstrated high levels of professionalism, strategic thinking skills and strong leadership capabilities. Good judgment, emotional maturity and high ethical standards will contribute to success in this role.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $182,951.60-$228,743.58 Annually.
