The Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing (TACAM) is a state-of-the-art applied research and innovation centre at RRC Polytech that provides companies with access to cutting-edge technology and equipment, as well as a multi-disciplinary team with the expertise to turn brilliant ideas into market-ready products.
TACAM offers value-added R&D and innovation services to Canadian businesses particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in aerospace and manufacturing sectors to develop new prototypes, scale-up processes and solve unique business challenges. TACAM also provides customized training for corporate teams to upgrade technical skills, and de-risk the financial investment of implementing new equipment and adopting emerging technologies. TACAM aims to generate innovation and productivity results, while enhancing the competitiveness of their industry partners.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
At the Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing (TACAM), our Smart Factory operates on a fully integrated industrial network that links a wide range of advanced manufacturing equipment to support an Industry 4.0 applied research environment. Within this setting, the Research Technologist plays a central role in maintaining and advancing the digital infrastructure that enables our research and demonstration capabilities. This position is responsible for managing IP address assignments, configuring and supporting Cisco networking hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls, and ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across both IT and OT systems. The role also includes installing and maintaining servers, administering virtual machines, and supporting hypervisor environments used in industrial applications. In addition, the administrator handles physical infrastructure tasks such as running and terminating network cabling, installing equipment in racks or control panels, and maintaining accurate documentation of network assets. This position ensures the Smart Factory’s network remains robust, secure, and capable of supporting cutting‑edge applied research in aerospace and manufacturing.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Certificate or Diploma in Networking or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
- Experience in Cisco networking, including configuration of switches, routers, VLANs, routing protocols, and access control
- Experience configuring and maintaining firewalls, network security rules, and segmentation
- Proficiency in IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, and general network administration
- Hands‑on experience with server administration, including Windows or Linux environments
- Competence in running, terminating, and testing network cabling
- Experience documenting network diagrams, IP address plans, and equipment inventories
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with researchers and industry partners
- Strong organizational habits and attention to detail
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

- Salary Range for this position: $30.86 - $43.52 hourly
- Generous Paid Vacation: Full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
- December Break: Employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
