Introduction
The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated Carpenter to work within Brandon and surrounding communities with the Asset Management Division of Public Service Delivery. Duties:
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing duties at a journeyperson level in the carpentry trade. Responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of building structures, roofs, walls, windows, doors, locks, flooring, woodwork, cabinetry, furniture, etc. The position utilizes, updates and maintains an established Preventative Maintenance work order system, related reports, and documents, and may coordinate and monitor projects performed by outside contractors and ensure compliance with the Manitoba Fire and Building Codes, safety regulations and departmental policies.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience as a Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter with ongoing carpentry maintenance, minor construction and renovations of building structures.
Extensive experience with the use of manual and power tools, such as table saws and drills.
Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act, safety policies, and safe work procedures.
Knowledge of Canadian national building codes and national fire codes.
Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.
Effective interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to work independently.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a Red Seal journeyperson Carpenter's licence
Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver's Licence without restrictions
Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check, Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check, and Enhanced Security Screening
Must be physically capable of performing the required duties of the position including work at heights, heavy lifting, crouching, bending, working alone, in restricted areas, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, outdoors, exposure to chemicals, dusty air, noise levels, and be capable of wearing personal protection equipment, including a respirator
Must be able to travel within the district with overnight stays and respond to a emergency call out
