Position Overview
Peguis Child and Family Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Specialized Foster Parent to join our Resource Homes team. This role provides trauma-informed, high-quality care to children and youth with complex needs.
 
The Specialized Foster Parent will reside in the agency Resource Home during each 7-day on-duty rotation, creating a stable, nurturing, and structured environment. This role requires full availability during on-duty periods to respond to the needs and potential crises of children and youth. The successful candidate will also support and supervise staff ensuring consistent, high-quality care.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, structured, and supportive home environment for children and youth.
  • Support youth in daily routines, activities, and personal goals.
  • Supervise children and youth with complex behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs.
  • Maintain consistent routines, including meals, chores, recreation, and outings.
  • Respond to emergencies or crises during on-duty periods.
  • Perform household duties (cooking, cleaning, shopping).
  • Document critical incidents and maintain accurate records.
  • Supervise support workers and casual respite staff, ensuring compliance with Agency policies and high standards of care.
  • Collaborate with caseworkers, clinicians, and other professionals.
 
Experience & Qualifications 
  • Passion for working with children and youth.
  • Experience supporting children and youth with complex needs.
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children, youth, and families.
  • Skills in developmentally appropriate assessments and interventions.
  • Experience supervising Resource Home support workers and casual respite staff.
  • Strong crisis management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and $2,000,000 liability insurance.

Education
  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Diploma in Child and Youth Care.
