Minimum guarantee payment of three hours for every 16 hours of availability followed by regular compensation for actual time worked beyond the minimum

Introduction
The successful candidates will provide after hours emergency services for Child and Family Services in the Parkland area. These are home based positions; however, you must have the ability to respond to calls immediately and have a use of vehicle to travel. The work schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays. Shifts may be shared on a rotational basis. The successful candidates will have experience in crisis intervention, demonstrated assessment skills, and a working knowledge of family dynamics and abuse/neglect.
Duties:
The successful candidate will provide after hours emergency service for Child and Family Services which includes being available for evenings, weekends and holidays to receive calls for intake purposes and attend in person on location for assessment purposes. The following duties will include: reviews referral information or recipient expressed need; investigate all reports of a child in need of protection; provides intervention activities; takes appropriate action to ensure safety and security needs of individuals as mandated by program legislation and standards; completes required documentation; maintains appropriate filing system for accountability purposes; as requested by the After Hours Supervisor, the After Hours Social Services Worker will prepare briefing materials pertaining to his/her caseload or issues in his/her catchment area.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Post secondary degree in social sciences (preferably BSW). Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service (https://canalliance.org/en/ or by Canadian Association of Social Workers at application).
Ability to work from a strength based social work practice.
Ability to identify signs of child abuse and neglect.
Effective interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize complex tasks/assignments in a high volume work environment with competing demands.
Effective written communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences including detailed reports.
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate or deliver difficult messages or information to clients.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Outlook).
Desired:
Case management experience (including intakes, assessments, service coordination, counselling, and monitoring) in a social service setting and/or knowledge of case management.
Experience in crisis intervention.
Ability to conduct child abuse investigations.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must produce a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
Must have a valid driver's licence, access to a vehicle and ability to travel on government business within Manitoba.
The ability to respond to calls immediately is required.
When scheduled, availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
Internet access at place of residence is required.
