Position Overview
The Educational Audiologist functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary school-based team of professionals and is responsible for providing specialized audiology related services to First Nations schools in Manitoba. This will include assessment, programming and therapeutic intervention, and consultative services within the three-tiered service delivery model to enhance access to academics and participation in school.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Clinical Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Audiology from an accredited or approved university
  • Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba
  • Membership/eligibility for membership with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC)
  • Skilled ability in the assessment, identification and treatment of school age children
  • Current knowledge of hearing aid software and technology required
  • Experience working with children is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi‐disciplinary team of professionals
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, teachings and traditions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Manitoba First Nations education development and reforms and socio‐economic conditions of First Nation communities
  • Experience working with First Nations in the field of education
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross‐cultural skills to work in a First Nations environment
  • Fluency in a First Nations language is considered an asset
  • Must have a strong understanding of First Nations communities and governance structures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in technical and plain language writing
  • Familiarity with federal and provincial legislation, guidelines, support documents; and curriculum
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi‐disciplinary team
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with children, parents/caregivers, and other professionals
  • Appreciation and respect for First Nations self‐determination and education reform strategies
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and a reliable vehicle
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry checks
