Introduction
The Pay and Benefits branch is responsible for the operational delivery of the Pay and Benefits Program for the Manitoba government.

Duties:
Reporting to a Pay and Benefits Manager, the Pay and Benefits Consultant (PBC) works independently, displaying a high degree of initiative and decision-making ability. The PBC provides expert pay and benefits services to a large and diverse client group operating under several collective agreements. The PBC must work under strict deadlines and ensure compliance with government and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:
Essential: 
  • Experience delivering payroll services including processing payroll transactions such as leaves, pay adjustments, appointments, new hires, terminations and records of employment (ROEs). 
  • Experience administering employee benefits plans, including calculating and processing deductions and prepayments. 
  • Proficiency using automated HRIS system for payroll processing, preferably SAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate payroll results. 
  • Ability to interpret legislation, policies and collective agreements. 
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a team environment. 
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely in a professional manner. 
  • Strong verbal communication skills. 
Desired: 
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certification or courses through the National Payroll Institute (NPI). 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French.
