Position Overview:
We are seeking a permanent Utilityworker to join our Eastern Generation Department in Great Falls, Manitoba.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a Helper to Tradespeople and Technicians in the performance of their duties.
- Perform rough carpentry.
- Assist in plant cleanliness, painting, maintenance of roads and grounds and snow removal.
- Will be required to work with the EAM system.
- Operate electrical and pneumatic power tools.
- Operate the following equipment as required: cars, trucks, front end loaders, snowmobiles, motorboats, air comp¬ressor, cranes, etc.
- Will perform the placement and removal of stoplogs and forebay and tailrace gates at powerhouse, spillway, and control structures.
- Will be required to perform grinding duties during turbine/runner cavitation repairs and assist in scroll case inspection.
- Perform rigging work and erect scaffolding which will require climbing ability and to work from heights.
- Ensure the duties performed comply with Corporate and regulatory environmental requirements. Report any incidents or situations that may be harmful to the environment or in violation of regulatory requirements to line supervisor.
- May be required to direct and train junior personnel.
Qualifications:
- Grade 10 education plus a minimum of one year of related experience
- Must be physically capable of performing all the duties of the position and work under adverse weather conditions, temperatures and emergency conditions.
- Familiar with and adhere to all safety rules and other approved practices and procedures.
- Capable of working at heights and unusual work environments.
- Familiar with and adhere to Federal and Provincial Regulations and practices related to WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Familiar with Corporation policies and the union contract.
- Possess an approved set of personal hand tools.
- Be required to become certified to operate certain classes of equipment.
- Capable of effectively training personnel.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and be capable of communicating, both orally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills and program knowledge.
- Proven ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees.
- Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence - Class 5 or greater.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $23.27-$33.36 Hourly, $44,594.42-$63,925.94 Annually.
