 Position Overview
  • Provides human resources management services and advice to internal clients and stakeholders to support strategy, planning and operations by advising on human resources solutions with current knowledge of industry trends and legal requirements.
  • Inspires all levels of leadership to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence to be influential leaders.
  • Provides leadership advice to the assigned client groups in all areas of an effective and efficient human resources program focused on labour and employee relations, recruitment and succession planning, employee development, performance management, employee engagement and recognition, human resources information management, productivity metrics, and regulatory and standards compliance.
  • Assumes conduct for, or assists with, the process of employee investigations related to respectful workplace, privacy and other potential breaches of policy.
Experience
  • 5 years of progressive experience providing generalist human resources management support to management in a unionized environment, preferably in a large multi-enterprise and/or public sector organization; experience working in the health sector is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree in human resources, or in a relevant discipline combined with a post-graduate certificate in human resources management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Chartered Professional Human Resources designation with current membership in good standing or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certifications in project management, human resources, change management and quality processes are assets.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities as described in the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework including a passion for customer service.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions from executives, and partner organizations are common requiring managing multiple priorities and competing demands; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license.
  • Use of a personal motor vehicle may be required for regular travel within the province.
 
 This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

 Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
