Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Financial Accounting & Reporting Supervisor, you will be responsible for compiling and assisting in the creation of the financial reporting packages for monthly, quarterly and annual reports. As well, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting monthly financial statement variances. You will have strong analytical and technical skills and well-developed conceptual and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing the consolidated monthly income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Maintain and present the Financial Results Dashboard using PowerBI and source information from subject matter experts.
- Prepare consolidated income statement variance analysis for inclusion in the monthly Management Report.
- Responsible for leading the discussions pertaining to the preliminary financial results at monthly status update and financial package review meetings held with colleagues, senior managers and the Corporate Controller.
- Responsible for monthly summary of debt activities, including finance expense analysis as well as reconciliation of accumulated other comprehensive income.
- Oversee the reporting of Corporate financial metrics in monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Assist in the coordination and compilation of the quarterly financial report to the Minister.
- Preparation of quarterly presentations of financial results to the Board and Audit & Finance Committee.
- Assist in the preparation and review of the annual financial results which includes financial statements and corresponding note disclosures as well as year-over-year analytics.
- Assist in the quarterly reviews of corporate account reconciliations.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives associated with the financial reporting and presentation process.
- Key participant in year-end audit. Liaison with external auditors on working paper requirements. As well, assist in the preparation of the audited financial statements, notes and MD&A sections of the Corporate Annual Report.
- Liaison with Financial Planning to ensure consistency between budget and actual information for analytic purposes.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and training and development to staff.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and two years of related financial or accounting experience as a CPA.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels within the corporation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate detailed accounting information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data for management reporting.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, investigate and analyze problems and objectively discuss, present and justify recommendations.
- A high degree of initiative along with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Excel, including the development and maintenance of complex spreadsheets and a working knowledge of other Microsoft suite of products.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.75-$61.75 Hourly, $85,745.40-$118,316.64 Annually.
