Position Overview:
Under the general direction of a Project Financial Support Lead, this position will support a capital portfolio by working closely with internal customers to provide financial expertise and guidance related to accounting and project cost management functions including detailed project specific cost controls, planning, budgeting, reporting and financial analysis for the projects within the portfolio.  

Six project accountants are required to support the following areas:
  • Gas
  • Distribution
  • Transmission
  • Generation
  • HVDC Reliability Program
  • Dispatchable Capacity Resources

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic financial and accounting advice to management through comprehensive financial analysis, interpretation of results, and clear insights that support sound business decisions.
  • Analyze, monitor, and report on program and project performance on an ongoing basis, identifying trends and variances and proactively advising management to support achievement of financial and operational objectives.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance on project and contract expenditures, including the development and implementation of effective monitoring and review processes for project managers.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timeline financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages to the management team.
  • Manage the full financial life cycle of assigned programs and projects, including creating and maintaining SAP master data, entering detailed project cost estimates, and preparing all required in-service, capitalization and retirement information.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls and reporting systems are designed, developed, and maintained.
  • Review and assess approval and investment documents to ensure financial assumptions are sound, all costs are appropriately reflected, recommendations and justifications are well supported, and expenditures align with enterprise strategies and priorities.
  • Support regulatory filings and proceedings by preparing financial schedules, responding to information requests, and reviewing regulatory evidence as required.
  • Prepare specialized financial, accounting, and management reports related to programs, agreements and strategic initiatives, including detailed analysis and evaluation of alternatives to support management decision-making.

Qualifications:
  • A Professional Accounting designation (CPA) and two years of related experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles, practices and controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced working knowledge of financial systems including SAP, Business Warehouse, BPS and C55 systems would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products with a high level of expertise in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to contribute effectively in team-based and cross-functional environments.
  • Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while delivering high-quality work within tight timelines.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.75-$61.75 Hourly, $85,745.40-$118,316.64 Annually.
