Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operator Driver to operate and maintain light and heavy self-propelled vehicles and auxiliary implements. Haul all types of apparatus, material, and equipment, use, and operate light and heavy lifting devices and load/unload material, equipment, and apparatus. Must be able to set poles in energized lines. 

Responsibilities:
  • Required to operate a Radial boom digger including RBD III.
  • Required to remove and install poles, anchors, transformers, streetlight standards, and bases in urban and rural distribution systems.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all assigned vehicles and attachments.
  • Haul and handle poles, wire, material, and related tools as required.
  • Perform minor repairs and lubrication on assigned machines and implements.
  • May be required to operate equipment such as the following:
    - Stake deck & dump body
    - Small tractor with accessory equipment such as loader, compressor, forklift, etc.
    - Skid Steer loader, with pole setter and pole puller and other attachments
    - Aerial bucket truck to 55' 
    - Various district related equipment & vehicles
  • Required to direct and train junior staff.
  • Operate and maintain assigned vehicle in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act regulations and Manitoba Hydro standards.
  • Will be required to take standby duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work outside of headquarter zone.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of streetlights, conductor-stringing operations at ground level and plant salvage operations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade 10 education plus completion of Operator Driver II schools and one-year related experience as an Operator Driver I and an Operator Driver II.
  • Must be willing to complete the Operator Driver training program.
  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 3 with air brake endorsement.
  • Possess the necessary certification and experience to operate equipment assigned to the classification.
  • Possess a Manitoba Hydro Equipment Operator Certification and Operator Driver training appropriate for the equipment to be operated. (Certified on the Radial Boom Digger III).
  • Familiar with Manitoba Hydro standards and safe work procedures for installing poles, anchors, streetlight standards and bases in the distribution systems.
  • Familiar with and adhere to Manitoba Hydro safety rules and procedures, including job planning, traffic control practices, WHMIS, handling and storage of dangerous goods and other approved safe working practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge in practices of handling, securing, and hauling heavy equipment.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the equipment in its use and service requirements.
  • Possess an approved set of personal hand tools.
  • Possess a valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use computers as required to perform daily work activities.

Notes/Comments:
  • The successful applicant will reside within 30 km driving distance on all weather roads to Portage and Main. In the event that this requirement causes the employee to incur incremental costs during periods of standby, such costs will be the employee's responsibility.
  • Notwithstanding the above, it continues to be the Corporation's preference for employees to regularly reside within the Winnipeg headquarters zone or within 30 km driving distance on all weather roads to Portage and Main.
  • Will be required to work at various locations throughout the Southeast Winnipeg and Central Winnipeg service areas. 

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $29.99-$41.09 Hourly, $57,470.66-$78,744.64 Annually.
