The Construction portfolio within the School of Skilled Trades and Technologies at RRC Polytech equips students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in Manitoba’s construction industry. Our programs include several skilled construction trades as well as Engineering Technologies and related programs. WHAT YOU WILL DO
The educational assistant will primarily support the Carpentry and Cabinetry programs, collaboration with other areas may be required. The successful candidate will provide general guidance and technical assistance to students in a variety of trades programs. The candidate will order, receive, and organize materials, equipment and supplies inventory. Maintain shop equipment to proper safety standards and follow safety procedures for use and repair of tools and equipment. The candidate may also be required to set up equipment and supplies before classes begin and remove and store equipment and supplies after classes.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Red Seal certification in a construction trade; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Relevant experience working in construction and/or related materials management
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads effectively, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience in maintaining supplies inventory and obtaining quotations for ordering materials
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in small to large group settings
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

- Well-established network of industry contacts, including suppliers, contractors, and professionals, supporting effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Forklift operator’s license

Salary Range for this position: $58,172 - $82,035 per annum
Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
