WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an instructor within Transportation & Manufacturing, your responsibilities would include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are Welding, including welding safety practices; interpreting engineering drawings; metal fabrication processes; Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG); Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick); Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG); oxy fuel welding and cutting; non destructive testing fundamentals; and work integrated learning for welders. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Red Seal Certification as a journeyperson Welder
  • Current or previous Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) qualification
  • Related industry experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction

  • Salary Range for this position:  $65,109 - $102,091 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: Full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
  • December Break: Employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
