WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Electrical Educational Assistant will assist faculty on student related issues, offer support to staff and students in lab environments, work closely with the College Safety and Health services department to assure compliance, and assist with the delivery of curriculum. The candidate will also provide guidance and technical assistance to students in a variety of program areas. Additionally, the candidate will organize and maintain shop materials and equipment, maintain proper safety standards and follow safety procedures for the use and repair of tools and equipment. The candidate may also be required to set up equipment before classes and to remove and store equipment once classes have resumed. The Educational Assistant will maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies and materials.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Red Seal Construction or Power Electrician Certification
  • Several years of relevant experience in the trade
  • Experience working in a shop environment
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to assist in maintaining supplies / inventory and obtaining quotations for orders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in large group settings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiarity and commitment to the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and regulations
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
 
NICE TO HAVE
  • Openness to using AI tools as relevant to role specific work
  • Forklift operation license
  • Work experience in a post-secondary educational institution

  • Salary Range for this position:  $52,988 - $74,570 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
  • December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
